Be free, be active

Sporting activities in South Tyrol.

Even if you leave your rucksack and helmet in your room...

...there’s no chance of spending a day lazing around in Partschins and its surroundings. If you want, sample South Tyrol’s activity programme and test yourself to your heart’s content.

From tennis court to rafting boat

How about a nail-biting game of tennis? Or a round of golf between meadows and forest? Or a rafting tour surging down the River Etsch? South Tyrol has something for every sports enthusiast. The range of activities matches the fun to be had – whether rock-climbing, playing tennis, golf, volleyball or even flying.

Climbing

Higher and higher

The “Burgstallknott” climbing area, not far from the Niedermair, offers both easy and more challenging climbing routes. The “Ziel” via ferrata (fixed-rope route) in the Zieltal Valley near Partschins or the “Huafwond” climbing wall on the Sonnenberg mountain above the village, with views as far as the Dolomites, are also worth a visit: both are easily accessible via the Texelbahn cable car.

Tennis

Perfect service

From mid-March until early November you can try your (back)hand at the Partschins sports centre. Once the nets are in place and the clay court is rolled, all is ready for the next match. Two free clay tennis courts in the sports centre are available for aspiring tennis stars.

Golf

On the greens

None other than the renowned British golf course designer Michael Pinter is behind the very popular par-70 golf course at the Golf Club Lana on the Brandis estate. Nestling idyllically between surrounding orchards on the historic site of Brandisburg Castle, here you can practise your golfing skills nearly all year-round.

Funsport

In the water, on land

For a more exhilarating experience, try rafting on the River Etsch or climbing at the Partschins waterfall. If you prefer to take to the air rather than the water, you can explore South Tyrol from above while paragliding. The Partschins sports centre offers bowling on four fully automatic lanes, while in neighbouring Rabland you can play beach volleyball or minigolf.
