The Niedermair Nature Retreat near Meran is not only a hotel for hikers, but also a great choice for all other sports enthusiasts. Just a few minutes away can be found the small yet challenging Burgstollknott climbing area, a rock formation with a height of 10 to 15 metres, routes graded from 3a to 7a and the possibility of self-belaying.

What are the hiking opportunities nearby?

The Niedermair Nature Retreat is located at the foot of the Texel Group and thus at the entrance to South Tyrol’s largest nature park. Here you can find a vast network of hiking trails in several valleys, all promising variety and a diversity of scenery.

The Algund and Partschins Waalweg (ancient irrigation channel) and the path to the spectacular Partschins waterfall are also close by. Feel free to ask us for hiking tips while you are here!

Can I borrow equipment?

Yes, hiking poles and rucksacks can be borrowed free of charge. We also offer hiking maps for sale.

Are there also gentler walks for leisure hikers and families?

Yes, from the flat Waalweg trails along historic watercourses and themed trails with stations providing information, to easy hikes up to mountain pastures in the surrounding area.

Where can I stop for a bite to eat while hiking?

No matter where you are in South Tyrol, every hiking area and valley offers plenty of places to stop and marvel not only at the magnificent panoramic views, but also at the culinary delights.

Are there cable cars near the hotel?

Just a few minutes away by car are the Texelbahn cable car which can take you to the starting point of the Meran High Mountain Trail, as well as the Aschbach cable car, which will take you up into the forests on the Nörderberg mountain.

The Südtirol Guest Pass also lets you use all public transport free of charge, allowing you to reach South Tyrol’s finest hiking areas by bus and train.
